Certainly, home cinema  complements the cinema entertainment activity. Nothing replaces the experience of a movie theater. This is true both socially and in terms of entertainment satisfaction and immersiveness.

Going to the cinema is magic. We enjoy the big screen, the loud sounds, the dialogues and the music coming from all directions. We are not alone. There are people seated around us. We all laugh and express our feelings at the same time.

We watch trailers , which always present movies better than they really are. Yet we gladly participate In this game by allowing ourselves to be deceived.

I became a cinephile when I went to a film festival at McGill University, which was dedicated to the grand master Alfred Hitchcock. This was in the fall of 1981. I saw 40 of his movies in ten days.

Since then I  go to the movie theaters four times per week, unless I am away in the field or for a conference. However, the last decade with he birth of streaming services the landscape has changed. These services are addressed to a home entertainment audience.
