Carry-on is an action movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The protagonists include Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman and Sofia Carson. Jaume is known from directing Liam Neeson in many action movies.

The story reminds somehow Die Hard 2. Jason Bateman, the bad guy, blackmails Taron Egerton, an airport security agent. He demands him to allow a luggage to slip through security belt of the Los Angeles airport during Christmas Eve. There is a lot of running in the LA airport, especially in the luggage rooms and the bad guy, eventually dies.

Carry-on is advertised as a Die Hard  (1, 2 or 3) replacement and/or successor and/or whatever. Is it really?

No it is not. Why? Because Taron, no matter how good he is, and he is, is not Bruce Willis. Jaume is a master in directing action movies. Yet, he is not John McTiernan or Renny Harlin. And the script has several loopholes.

But don’t get me wrong. Carry-on is an excellent action movie. It is a Christmas action movie that will fully entertain you for two hours .

Two hours of entertainment reminding the best action cinema era of the 1980’s and 1990s. The latter has nothing to do with the superhero, Marvel type of action movies, which resembles more a video clip than a movie.

I have seen Carry-on once. I will watch it again one or two more times.

Carry-on certainly deserves a place in any cinephile library.
