In movie theaters, there is always someone, who for us is the anonymous staff, making sure that lights turn off, on or dimmed when required, the temperature within the theater is pleasant, the screen opens wide, the projection of the movie starts, and the volume and other aspects of the theater environment are regulated so that we, the watchers, dive in an immersive, uninterrupted two-hour adventure.
Yet, in our houses it is us that have to deal with all such issues. And there is nothing more annoying than trying in the dark to find, pick up and answer your phone when you watch a movie. Or to find the remote control of the TV/projector or the mouse in order to temporarily pause the movie, then get up from the couch, cross the room, turn on the lights to go to fridge. And then repeat the same actions in reverse. The suspension of disbelief has been already destroyed.
It is here that the smart ‘thing’ pops up, i.e., smart home cinema. Inevitably smart home cinema cannot exist in a dumb home. It rather requires a smart home.
